NFT company hosts welcome party at Austin Film Festival

By James Mackin

The first movie ever released as an NFT is making major waves at an American film festival.

Zero Contact is a new movie starring Anthony Hopkins that was released as a non-fungible token. For those who don’t what that is, it is a digital item which can be exclusively purchased and owned by one individual via a blockchain transaction.

The film was released in partnership by Vuele, which is the NFT platform for CurrencyWorks. This is the first film in history to be released as an NFT, and to mark the occasion Vuele hosted the welcome party at the Austin Film Festival on October 21st this year.

The film’s release has been incredibly successful for Vuele. 11 exclusive NFTs of Zero Contact have sold for a combined total of over $90,000. These include the full feature-length film, as well as behind-the-scenes footage and crypto art.

Cameron Chell, the Chairman of CurrencyWorks and co-founder of Vuele, tells me the welcome party was a success. “So much content’s interested in participating on the Vuele platform, and being able to have releases come out as NFTs and build digital collections for their fans.”

Chell adds that there will be another NFT drop of Zero Contact sometime in the near future, probably around the end of November. There’s no word yet on on what exclusive content this NFT will include, but Chell says we can expect “content that’s maybe never been and never will be seen again.”

If you’re interested in purchasing one of these NFTs, and any future ones from Vuele, you can register here.
