Man seriously injured after shooting in Cabbagetown

By Lucas Casaletto

One man is in hospital with serious injuries as investigators respond to yet another weekend shooting, this time in the city’s Cabbagetown area.

Toronto police were called to Parliament Street and Wellesley Street East just before 9 p.m. on Sunday after several reports that shots were fired and people were seen running.

They located one man with gunshot wounds. He has since been transported to hospital in serious condition.

Const. Alex Li tells CityNews that a loaded firearm and multiple shell casings were located at the scene. No arrests have been made and there is no information on a suspect or suspects.

That investigation is ongoing.

The shooting is one of many confirmed across the city this weekend alone amidst a string of violence as four people died in separate incidents.

The city’s latest homicide occurred later in the night, around 9 p.m. on Sunday, after a taxi driver was shot and killed in Scarborough.
