Toronto launches web page to highlight areas of COVID-19 exposure

By News Staff

Toronto Public Health has launched a new web page aimed to show areas of the city that have been exposed to COVID-19.

The new page on the City of Toronto website discloses specific locations where people may have been exposed to the virus in large settings or where individual contact information is not available.

To protect the privacy of individuals, TPH says it will only publicly report exposures where 20 or more people were present and the address is a commercial property.

“This is especially important as we continue moving forward returning to many of the activities that we’ve missed,” said the city’s top doctor Eileen de Villa in a statement. “We’re sharing this information to help prevent opportunities for virus spread and equipping residents with instructions they can follow to protect their health and the health of those around them if they may have been exposed to this virus.”

No exposures have been noted on the new page as of yet — the site will be updated on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 3 p.m.
