The trend of city-wide strip clubs as the site for vaccine clinics is set to continue in Toronto on Monday.

Zanzibar Tavern — an adult entertainment nightclub located on Yonge Street — will be administering COVID-19 booster shots to anyone eligible on January 3.

The operating hours are 10 a.m to 6 p.m, organizers say. The clinic does not require an appointment, proof of address or identification. Health officials will offer Pfizer and Moderna mRNA vaccines for booster shots.

“We’re partnering with Zanzibar and University Health Network to offer a low barrier vaccine clinic administering Pfizer and Moderna booster vaccines to [the] community as well as first and second doses to those looking for their initial vaccines,” Maggie’s Toronto, a sex worker justice organization, captioned on Instagram.

“As Ontario continues to top record numbers of reported case numbers (with many delays in testing that paint a much more grim picture of how far the new variant has spread), healthcare workers have been working tirelessly to administer vaccines and provide life-saving care, fighting burnout, short-staffing, packed ICU’s, a lack of supplies and investment from all levels of government.”

Seniors and those with accessibility requirements can book appointments at “info@maggiesto.org.”

The organization says they’re grateful to the nursing team at UHN for the partnerships and “continue to advocate for an end to the targeted stigma Mayor [John] Tory and Premier [Doug] Ford use against strip clubs, exotic dancers and sex workers more broadly through the pandemic.”

Last week, dozens of people lined up outside Filmores’ Gentlemen’s Club on Dundas Street for a booster shot.

The City of Toronto said on Thursday health officials planned to administer more than 10,000 vaccine doses to eligible children and adults at city-run clinics and pop-ups ahead of the new year.

Further, the city says vaccination outreach continued through the weekend with approximately 14,000 appointments booked from January 1 to 3, 2022.
