York Regional Police confirm that a 37-year-old woman abducted from her Wasaga Beach, Ont. home was assaulted in a separate incident in late December.

“I can confirm that we have been actively investigating the incident reported to us by Elnaz Hajtamiri in December, and we remain concerned for her safety,” YRP Const. Laura Nicolle confirmed in an email to CityNews. “We are working closely with the OPP and will continue to do so as both investigations progress.”

Ontario Provincial Police Const. Elizabeth Newton also acknowledged a prior assault involving Hajtamiri.

“The OPP is aware of the incident in York Region and is working closely with York Regional Police to pursue this avenue of investigation,” Newton said. “The OPP is utilizing all available resources to locate the victim of the home invasion-style abduction that occurred in Wasaga Beach that occurred on the night of Wednesday, January 12, 2022.”

The CBC first reported the attack, which took place on December 21 in a parking garage of Hajtamiri’s condo building in Richmond Hill, citing a family source. The family member says multiple tracking devices had been discovered underneath her vehicle on two separate occasions, the most recent when she took her Lexus in for service.

OPP said last week that the three suspects who abducted Hajtamiri were dressed in police gear and claimed to have a warrant to arrest her. When the homeowner became suspicious and tried to call 911, the three assailants overpowered the individual and abducted Hajtamiri.

The suspects then fled in a vehicle described as a white SUV, believed to be a Lexus RX. They’re considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators and Hajtamiri’s family are concerned for her safety and wellbeing.

The force has established a dedicated tip line for the case and asks the public for any information that could help locate Hajtamiri.
