Police investigate anti-Semitic graffiti found on Taylor Creek Trail system

A week after Toronto Police Chief James Ramer acknowledged that hate-motivated incidents are becoming “too common in our city” Toronto police are reporting another case of anti-Semitic graffiti in the city.

Toronto police said they’ve launched a hate-motivated mischief investigation after anti-Semitic graffiti was discovered on the Taylor Creek Trail system between Taylor Drive and Alder Road area on Sunday.

“After consultation with the Service’s specialized Hate Crime Unit, the investigation is being treated as a suspected hate-motivated offence,” police said in a release.

Last week Ramer spoke out about the disturbing rise in hate-motivated incidents after the Metropolitan United Church on Queen Street East, near the Eaton Centre was desecrated with anti-Semitic and homophobic graffiti.

A reverend at the church confirmed the graffiti was spray-painted on March 4.

The latest investigation follows a string of reported incidents involving anti-Semitic acts — particularly at city schools.
