Man arrested, charged in connection to fatal collision more than two months ago

Toronto police say a man has turned himself in to investigators after a fatal single-vehicle collision that happened more than two months ago.

On Sunday March 6, police received a report of a collision around 2:40 a.m. at the intersection of Lake Shore Boulevard West and Jameson Avenue.

Police say a 30-year-old man was driving a 2018 black BMW M4 eastbound at a high rate of speed, crossed into the westbound lanes, and struck a concrete barrier.

A 19-year-old female passenger was transported to hospital in life-threatening condition, where she was pronounced dead. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police say 30-year-old Kumaran Sankarkumar of Oshawa has been arrested and charged with dangerous operation of a conveyance causing death and impaired driving causing death. Sankarkumar is set to appear in court on July 14, 2022.

Police say the investigating is ongoing.
