Waterloo police search for suspect in 8-year-old’s death

Waterloo police are searching for a male suspect in connection with the death of an 8-year-old child in Cambridge.

Investigators say they were called to a home in the area of Townline Road and River Road at around 10 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived they discovered the body of the young boy.

Police say they are searching for a white male, approximately 40 years old, five-foot-11, thin build, blue eyes, short blonde hair and facial scruff. He was last seen wearing brown khaki pants and a blue or black army style bucket hat.

“The male may be armed and dangerous and there are concerns for his safety,” police said.

Police did not elaborate on the circumstances that led up to the child’s death. In a release, officers say the male and child knew each other and police believe this was an isolated incident.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone who has information is asked to contact police.
