Homicide victim identified, suspects sought after vicious assault outside Toronto bar

Toronto police are on the hunt for multiple suspects after a man died in hospital with injuries sustained following a brutal assault in the city’s downtown core.

Investigators say the incident happened around 9:30 p.m. on May 22 outside Queen Street Warehouse at 232 Queen Street West, near University Avenue.

Police say the victim had been assaulted by two men resulting in life-threatening head injuries. He was assessed by paramedics and rushed to a nearby hospital.

The man was pronounced dead a few days later on Tuesday. He has since been identified as 34-year-old Jason Rumley of Caledon.

Officers say the suspects were described as men in their late 20s to early 30s, standing approximately 5-foot-10 to six feet tall, Black with dark complexions and average builds.

The Homicide and Missing Persons Unit has taken over the case.

Investigators are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the assault, or who may have video or dashcam footage, to come forward.
