25 arrested, $1.7M in drugs seized in Ontario-wide drug trafficking investigation

A year-long drug trafficking investigation spanning much of southern Ontario resulted in more than two dozen arrests and the seizure of nearly $2 million in illegal drugs.

The joint investigation, dubbed Project Entrust, was spearheaded by York Regional Police and included members of the Toronto Police Service, Durham Regional Police Service, London Police Service, and the Ontario Provincial Police.

Police in York Region began the investigation in June of 2021. Over the next year, officers discovered the group being investigated was responsible for trafficking drugs throughout the GTA ,and as far as London and the Kawartha Lakes region.

The investigation concluded last month, after conducting 19 search warrants officers were able to arrest 25 people and lay 113 trafficking and weapons charges.



Investigators say they seized more than $1.7 million in illicit drugs, including:

  • 7.5 kg of methamphetamine,
  • 2.7 kg of cocaine,
  • 18 grams of crack cocaine
  • 534 grams of fentanyl
  • 115 oxycodone pills
  • 89 hydromorphone pills
  • 48 Percocets
  • 27 Vyvanse pills

 

Police also seized $23,000 in weapons, $136,000 in Canadian dollars, and two stolen vehicles..
