The Ministry of Labour is investigating after scaffolding collapsed at a home in Courtice, a community in Durham Region, on Wednesday morning.

Police and paramedics responded to the scene on Prestonvale Road, near Southfield Avenue and Highway 401, just before 11 a.m.

The Ministry of Labour said it was reported to them that four workers were doing work on a house when the scaffolding collapsed.

One male suffered non-life-threatening injuries. It is not yet known if the three other workers were injured.

This is the second industrial accident in Durham Region that has taken place in a week.

On Tuesday, the bodies of two men were pulled from a trench at a construction site in Ajax. The two workers, along with two others, had fallen into the trench on Monday when it collapsed at the site of a new storm sewer catch basin installation.

One of the workers was airlifted to a Toronto hospital, while another was taken to a local hospital in Durham.
