Man, 69, killed in early morning crash on QEW

A 69-year-old man is dead following a single vehicle crash in Grimsby.

Provincial police say a vehicle was seen driving erratically and weaving through lanes on the Toronto-bound Queen Elizabeth Way just before 1:30 a.m. Sunday when it struck the right guardrail before ending up in concrete barrier on the left side of the highway near Barlett Avenue.

The driver was taken to a nearby trauma centre where he was pronounced dead.

Two other vehicles collided with the first one as part of a secondary collision. No injuries were reported as a result of those crashes.

All lanes of the QEW have since reopened following the initial investigation.
