Canadian International Air Show says ‘conditions favourable’ for Monday show

Canadian International Air Show (CIAS) organizers say the show is expected to go on as scheduled on Monday despite cloudy conditions.

In a tweet late Monday morning, organizers said “conditions are looking favourable for a low show today.”

“Like yesterday, we will do our best to fit in as many performances as we can in safely.”

CIAS organizers were forced to cancel Sunday’s show in Toronto due to weather conditions.

Throughout Sunday morning, CIAS posted to social media that low cloud cover and weather conditions were being assessed to determine if they met minimum safety requirements.

Following the decision to move forward with the performances that met those safety requirements, it warned, “Our schedule will be very fluid today as weather is changing by the minute,” and announced shortly after the CH-146 Griffon would not be performing and the CC-130J Hercules went back to CFB Trenton because of the weather.

After several announcements stating the show was temporarily on hold, the CIAS finally made the decision to keep the planes grounded and cancelled the show set for Sunday.

In a release, shared in the afternoon, the CIAS wrote in part, “Safety is of paramount importance to the Canadian International Air Show.”

It goes on to say that due to weather conditions that day, they decided to cancel the show and performances for “the safety of our performers, crews and spectators.”
