Police investigate fatal early morning shooting in downtown

A 38-year-old man is dead following an early morning downtown shooting.

Police say they were called to an area on Queen Street West following reports of multiple gunshots just before 1 a.m Saturday.

When they arrived they found a man on the ground suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The victim has been identified as Peter Alexandros Madimenos, 38, of Toronto.

There was no suspect description at this time.

The homicide squad has been called in to investigate.

An area between Denison Avenue to Portland Street was closed off for several hours as detectives processed the scene but the area has since reopened to foot and vehicular traffic.
