Madison Tevlin, 21, is breaking barriers in the entertainment industry

In the last year, actress and host, Madison Tevlin, has been nominated for a Canadian Screen Award (CSA) and starred in the film Champions.

Although she didn’t win the CSA, her nomination was for the category Best Host in a Talk Show or Entertainment for her CBC Gem talk show Who Do You Think I Am?

“I never would have thought I’d be nominated for my show. I never would have thought. I just did this because I talked to one of my friends, who is a producer on the show, Sylvia, and we were talking about image and being judged for the way we look and breaking down stereotypes and barriers and we had this conversation together. Never thought this would be something going forward. We never thought this would happen and now that I’m nominated, it’s super cool,” says Tevlin.

Tevlin has Down syndrome and says the medical diagnosis does not define her.

“I have Down syndrome, but it’s the least interesting thing about me. It’s part of who I am, but not my whole entire identity,” she adds.

Her show is focused on interviewing people who have had to deal with prejudice in their lives.

Some of the people she’s interviewed are singer Tyler Shaw and Influencer Sarah Nicole Landry known as @thebirdspapaya. If people don’t know me, I’m a big talker and I love asking lots of questions and really getting to know someone for who they really are. I get to interview 10 very interesting people and what they have to share with the world and listen to their stories,” says Tevlin.

In addition to this work, she played Cosentino in the new film Champions which was released in 2023.

Tevlin says, the cast was incredible to work with and she’s even developed some incredible friendships along the way.

“A few people I would like to mention is Kevin and James, Joshua and Matt.  You guys all helped me work so hard and you believed in me.”
