What’s open and closed on Victoria Day 2023

The Victoria Day long weekend is upon us.

Considered by many to be the unofficial start of summer, some rainy weather is in the forecast but the GTA is also expected to see some warm and dry stretches this weekend.

The City of Toronto will put on a fireworks display at Ashbridges Bay Park, beginning at 10 p.m. Monday. Victoria Day and Canada are the only two days of the year the city allows fireworks without a permit on private property. More details can be found here.

Toronto police say officers will not be enforcing on-street parking bylaws on rush-hour routes and in areas with posted signs indicating Monday to Friday regulations. But all other areas and parking offences will be enforced.

The holiday Monday means many businesses and services will be shut down. Banks and government offices are closed on Monday, along with all Toronto Public Library branches. There will be no mail delivery on Monday.
