A double shooting has led to the death of one person and another seriously injured. It happened at a recording studio in Vaughan. Carl Hanstke with the latest.

One person is dead and another is in hospital after an overnight double shooting in Vaughan.

Police say it happened outside a recording studio located in an industrial plaza on Creditstone Road, north of Highway 7, around 3:50 a.m. Wednesday.

Officers located a 39-year-old man with a gunshot wound to the head who was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man, 27, was found with gunshot wounds and rushed to hospital in life-threatening condition.

There is no word on any suspects. Police say several people were seen leaving the area during the incident.

“We know there are a number of people who saw and heard what took place today,” says York Regional Police Insp. Clint Whitney. “We urge them to contact our investigators.”

People from neighbouring businesses in the plaza tell CItyNews they suspect one of the studio owners lived there with two dogs. They say there was often loud music coming from the space and there was much more activity at night and on weekends.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation. Anyone with information is being urged to contact police.
