Man pulled from backyard pool in Oakville without vital signs

Halton police say a man was pulled from a backyard pool in Oakville without vital signs on Friday afternoon.

Officers were called to the residence on Samford Place, near Third Line and Bridge Road, around 3:45 p.m.

A man was discovered in the pool without vital signs and rushed to a local hospital.

No other information was provided.

Recently, there have been several fatal incidents of people drowning in backyard pools. On Wednesday, a woman died after drowning in a backyard pool in Brampton.

Officers in Peel Region were called to the home around 3:10 p.m. on Wednesday near Williams Parkway and North Park Drive.

Last weekend, on May 28, Halton police were called to an address on Warwick Avenue in Oakville at around 7:00 p.m., responding to reports of a drowning.

A three-year-old boy was discovered without vital signs and later pronounced dead.

Two weeks ago, on May 23, a three-year-old girl died after drowning in a backyard pool in Ajax, Ont. Officers were called to the home around 5:15 p.m. for reports of an unresponsive child in the pool. She later died in hospital.

According to the Lifesaving Society, drowning is the number one cause of unintentional injury deaths among children one to four years old and the second leading cause of preventable death for children under 10 years.
