Body pulled from Mississauga waterfront after search for swimmer in distress

A search for a swimmer in distress ends in tragedy. Erica Natividad with how it all unfolded and what we know about the victim.

A body has been pulled from Lake Ontario following reports of a swimmer in distress in the Lakefront Promenade area in Mississauga.

Emergency crews were called to the area to reports of a swimmer in the water. Police arrived at the scene around 5 p.m. on Wednesday.

Divers were spotted near a cove on the west side of the park.

A police source confirmed with CityNews that a man’s body was pulled from the water. That person was pronounced dead.

A large police presence is expected in the area until the scene is cleared.
