Police arrest man wanted in alleged assault at TTC subway station

Toronto police have arrested a man wanted in connection with an alleged assault at an east-end TTC station earlier this month.

Police say the man was in Broadview subway station on December 4 when he allegedly assaulted another person, stealing and damaging their personal property before fleeing the scene.

Investigators identified the suspect as 43-year-old Gerrard Purcell of Toronto. On December 14, he was arrested and charged with assault, mischief under $5,000 and two counts of failing to comply with a probation order.

Purcell is scheduled to appear in court on December 15.
