18-year-old arrested in connection with a violent Vaughan home invasion

An 18-year-old who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant for his alleged involvement in an armed home invasion in Vaughan earlier this week has been arrested.

York Regional Police (YRP) officers were called to a residence in the area of Sir Sanford Fleming Way and Grand Trunk Avenue just before 4 a.m. on Monday.

According to police, multiple suspects forced their way into the home and at least one of them was armed with a handgun. When the residents were confronted, police say “a struggle ensued and the gun was discharged.”

A resident of the home was located at the scene with a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and was later released.

Police say the suspect was also injured during the confrontation.

Authorities later issued a Canada-wide warrant for 18-year-old Doneil Josiah Levy-Porter who was located in Brampton on Friday and placed under arrest.

He is facing numerous charges, including robbery with a firearm, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of failing to comply with a release order and failing to comply with an undertaking, among other related charges.
