Toronto police investigating another smash and grab jewellery store robbery

A frightening afternoon for shoppers at a Scarborough Mall after witnesses saw masked suspects, armed with hammers, storm a jewelry store in broad daylight. This robbery is part of an alarming uptick in targeting jewelry stores across the GTA

Toronto Police are looking for three suspects in yet another smash-and-grab jewellery store robbery.

Police received several calls just after 3:30 p.m. alerting them to a robbery at a jewellery kiosk in Golden Mile Plaza in the Victoria Park Avenue and Eglinton Avenue East area.

Several masked suspects were seen smashing display cases with hammers and stealing a quantity of jewelery before fleeing in a grey vehicle in an unknown direction.

There’s no word on injuries at this point, but a witness told CityNews one of the suspects was seen bleeding as they fled. It’s not clear how the suspect was cut. The witness said security staff tried to physically apprehend some of the suspects, but they managed to get away.

Police say a replica gun was recovered at the scene.

It’s the latest in a rash of similar robberies at jewellery stores across the Greater Toronto Hamilton Area.
