2 health care workers charged with allegedly defrauding elderly victim of nearly $1M in Newmarket

Two health care workers have been charged with allegedly defrauding an elderly victim out of nearly $1 million in Newmarket.
York police say on August 22, 2024, the victim reported to police that a large amount of money had been withdrawn from their bank account without their knowledge.
An investigation revealed two suspects, including one who was employed to care for the victim, allegedly accessed their banking information, attended various financial institutions and withdrew nearly $1 million.
On Feb. 6, 2025, Juvie Maputol, 38, who is employed as a personal support worker, and Lloyd Maputol, 37, who is currently working as a registered nurse, were charged with multiple fraud offenses.
Juvie from Richmond Hill is facing several charges including Theft by Person Holding Power of Attorney, Fraud, Identity Theft and Theft over $5,000.
Lloyd, also of Richmond Hill, has been charged with Fraud Over $5,000, Laundering Proceeds of Crime, and Theft Over $5,000
Investigators have released their photos as they believe there to be more alleged victims.
