A man was taken to hospital after being struck by a vehicle in North York.

Toronto police say they were called to Bartley Drive and Pinebrook Avenue just before 8:30 p.m. for a collision.

Police allege a 75-year-old man was driving a grey Volvo westbound on Bartley Drive. A 78-year-old man was crossing the road when the Volvo struck him.

The pedestrian was rushed to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

The driver involved remained at the scene.

Police are asking local residents, drivers and business who may have security or dashcam video of the area or the incident to contact them.
