Wage increases biggest issue at negotiating table, says education minister
Two days before public high school teachers are set to stage a one-day walkout, Minister of Education Stephen Lecce says the biggest issue at the table remains wage increases. The Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation is asking for a cost of living increase (approximately two per cent), whereas Lecce says the government is unable to pay for more than a one per cent increase, citing a recent deal reached with CUPE education workers as precedent.
