One man is dead, and a woman is recovering from her injuries following a targeted shooting in Port Credit.<\/p>\n

Peel Regional Police were called to Oakwood Avenue South near Lake Ontario just south of Wanita Road around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday following reports of gunshots.<\/p>\n

When they arrived, they found a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds.<\/p>\n

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 19-year-old woman, an acquaintance of the victim, was taken to hospital in non-life threatening condition.<\/p>\n

The man was identified as 25-year-old Shahid Todd of Toronto.<\/p>\n

Peel Regional Police said investigators believe the shooting was targeted, noting that there is no risk to the public.<\/p>\n

In 2020, a man with the same name as the victim<\/a><\/strong> was arrested following a Canada-wide warrant for attempted murder. That shooting occurred on February 22, 2020, after a man was shot in a Mississauga parking lot.<\/p>\n

Information at the time indicated the male suspect had fled the country.<\/p>\n

On July 19, 2020, Todd, 22 years old at the time, was taken into custody.
