Food trucks could soon be coming to Mississauga parks

Food trucks could soon be rolling into Mississauga, setting up shop at nine parks across the city.

Last week, the city said its parks and forestry division is recommending a one-year pilot project, which would allow for food trucks in parks.

If approved, the project would start on May 1 of this year and run until April 30, 2019. The food trucks would be stationed at the parks from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.

The nine parks are:

  • Jack Darling Memorial Park (1180 Lakeshore Rd. W.)
  • Paul Coffey Park (3430 Derry Rd. E.)
  • Erindale Park (1695 Dundas St. W.)
  • Mississauga Valley Park (1275 Mississauga Valley Blvd.)
  • Dunton Athletic Fields (6180 Kennedy Rd.)
  • R.K. McMillan Park – adjacent to Lakefront Promenade Park (830 Aviation Rd.)
  • Syntex Green (2180 Syntex Ct.)
  • Max Ward Sports Park (2380 Matheson Blvd. E.)
  • Meadowvale Sports Park (2255 Meadowvale Blvd.)

Currently, food trucks can only appear in parks during special events in the city.

Mississauga council will decide if they want to move ahead with the project at its meeting on Wednesday.

Once council gives the go-ahead, vendors will be selected through a lottery process.
