Toronto Hydro customers asked to conserve power during heat warning
Air conditioners are working overtime in this sweltering summer heat and as a result, Toronto Hydro is asking people to limit the strain on the utility’s equipment.
The utility says there has been a surge in demand — but with more sizzling temperatures on the way, customers are being asked to ease up on their electricity use.
Monday’s peak demand was about 4,100 megawatts, which came oh-so-close to last year’s record high of just over 4,200.
