Masters golf tournament postponed ‘to later date’
Augusta National says next month’s Masters golf tournament, the first golf major of the season, has been postponed.
Organizers say the ever-increasing risks associated with COVID-19 led them to a decision that they understand “will be disappointing to many.”
“Ultimately, the health and well-being of everyone associated with these events and the citizens of the Augusta community led us to this decision,” said Augusta National Golf Club chairman Fred Ridley. “We hope this postponement puts us in the best position to safely host the Masters Tournament and our amateur events at some later date.”

The PGA Tour has canceled all events through the Masters.
The next men’s golf major would be the PGA Championship in San Francisco in May.
The LPGA announced Thursday its next three tournaments would be cancelled including the ANA Inspiration, the tour’s first major of the season. It too hopes to reschedule the tournament at a later date.
