Shot fired through window at police station in East York

An investigation is underway after shots were allegedly fired at a police station in East York on Friday night.

Officers heard a window break at 8 p.m. at the 55 Division sub-station near Bermondsey Road and O’Connor Drive.

After inspecting the building for damage they discovered a hole in a window, which police believe to be from gunfire.

A large box of nails was also dumped on the property.

“The entrance to the parking garage and the front door to the station, that’s where the nails were dumped, looking like an attempt to sabotage police cars as they either leave or come into the station,” said Cst. David Hopkinson in an update on Saturday.

Police say they may be looking for a light-coloured car which was seen fleeing the area. There was no further word on any suspects.

The building is the former 54 Division station and is not open to the public. It became a sub-station for 55 Division when the two divisions were amalgamated.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with further information is being asked to contact police.
