Toronto police charge cello teacher in sexual assault investigation
A 62-year-old cello teacher in Toronto has been charged in connection with an ongoing sexual assault investigation, officers say.
According to a statement issued by the Toronto Police Service Tuesday morning, the investigation stems from an incident that happened inside the suspect’s Warden Avenue and Steeles Avenue East-area home on May 28.
Officers alleged the child was sexually assaulted by the accused, who teaches private cello lessons.

The statement said the probe began by members of the Sex Crimes — Child and Youth Advocacy Centre in July. It says the suspect was arrested on July 25 and charged with sexual assault and sexual interference.
The man charged was identified by investigators as Guo Cheng Xia. He was scheduled to appear in a Toronto court on Thursday. The allegations against the accused haven’t been proven in court.
When asked about the release of the arrest information more than six weeks after the accused was charged, a Toronto police spokesperson told CityNews that officers were awaiting additional information as part of the investigation.
Investigators said they are concerned there might be additional victims and included a photo of the suspect in the statement.
