Driver caught going 216 km/h on road in York Region: Police
A driver is facing multiple charges after police officers say they were caught going nearly triple the speed limit on a road in York Region on Monday.
York Regional Police say in a tweet that an officer spotted an SUV speeding on a rural section of Woodbine Avenue, near Mount Albert Road, in East Gwillimbury.
Police say the vehicle was travelling 216 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone.

Officers say the vehicle has been impounded for two weeks and the driver’s licence will be suspended for 30 days.

The driver is charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and stunt driving.
