Seven treated for fire-related injuries in west end blaze

Seven people have been treated for fire-related injuries following a two-alarm blaze in the city’s west end.

Fire crews were called to the area of Eglinton Avenue West east of Keele Street just before 10:30 a.m. for reports of smoke coming from an apartment above a commercial unit.

Paramedics says seven people were treated at the scene for minor smoke inhalation while three people were taken to hospital with minor injuries. It’s unknown if all those treated were residents of the apartment.

Toronto police said neighbouring units were evacuated as a result of the fire and officials are now working with the Office of Emergency Management to find accommodation for the displaced residents.
