Police intercept 24 stolen vehicles destined for Dubai, including a $500K Rolls Royce
Just days after Peel Regional Police announced the dismantling of a massive international auto theft ring, Halton Regional Police say they’ve recovered 24 stolen vehicles that were destined for re-sale in Dubai.
The vehicles, which included a $500,000 Rolls Royce, are valued collectively at around $2.1 million.
Halton police say its Auto Theft Task Force worked together with the Canada Border Service Agency (CBSA) and Peel Regional Police to recover the vehicles in Morocco.

“The vehicles were intercepted while in transit through Morocco and have since been returned to Canada,” police said in a release. “This is the largest ever seizure in Morocco of stolen Canadian vehicles.”
“These vehicles are primarily ‘reprogrammed’ thefts wherein the suspects enter the vehicle and reprogram the ignition computers, which allow them to be driven away using a new key.”
Investigators say once the vehicles were stolen, they were either driven to the Port of Montreal or loaded into shipping containers in Toronto to be transported by rail to Montreal.
Despite the considerable recovery of vehicles, police haven’t made any arrests at this point but say the investigation remains ongoing.
