Southbound DVP reopens after crash involving dump truck during morning rush

A large stretch of the southbound Don Valley Parkway has reopened after a crash that snarled traffic during the Tuesday morning rush and left drivers scrambling for alternate routes into downtown Toronto.

The collision happened in the southbound lanes approaching the Gardiner Expressway around 7 a.m.

Police say three vehicles were involved in the crash. Images from the scene showed a dump truck turned sideways blocking all southbound lanes.

No injuries have been reported.

The collision cleanup forced a full southbound closure of the highway from Don Mills Road south to the Gardiner. Hundreds of vehicles could be seen stuck in the backup behind the crash.

CityNews 680 traffic reporter Jordan Kerr was over the scene in a chopper just after 8:30 a.m. and said the dump truck and other vehicles involved in the crash had been successfully towed away.

The southbound lanes reopened around 8:45 a.m.
