Traffic is once again flowing across the Ambassador Bridge near the Canada-U.S. border following a police investigation.

Windsor Police said traffic coming from the U.S. side of the bridge was suspended around 10 a.m. Saturday for an “active investigation.”

The bridge remained open for outgoing traffic going to the United States while traffic into Canada was rerouted to the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel.

The Public Service Alliance of Canada and the Customs and Immigration Union confirmed late Saturday that a border officer took their own life at work.

“Incidents such as this one bring to light the challenges public safety personnel may be confronted with throughout their career, and they remind us of the need for a comprehensive mental health support structure and of the importance of taking down barriers to access these services, both in professional and private settings,” the union said in a statement.
