It was an agonizing Friday morning commute for TTC riders in the east end.
Subways were not running between Broadview and Victoria Park stations on Line 2 (Bloor-Danforth) due to a fire investigation at Main Street Station. The shutdown was then shortened to Donlands Station.
Service was shut down for two hours and resumed just before 8:30 a.m.
At one point, around 71 shuttle buses were operating between Broadview and Victoria Park.
Fire crews were called to the scene just before 6:30 a.m. after smoke was found in the station’s electrical rooms.
Toronto Fire Captain Mike Strapko told CityNews a thrown breaker was the cause and there was light smoke about 100 meters down the tunnel.
Commuters turned to Twitter to vent their frustrations.
