Boy charged after stabbing near East York school

A 17-year-old boy has been charged after a stabbing near an East York high school on Wednesday.

Police said two boys were in the area of East York Collegiate Institute, near Coxwell and Cosburn avenues, looking for a 16-year-old boy.

It’s alleged they found the boy at a bus stop and stabbed him repeatedly.

Bystanders came to the boy’s aid and called police around 3:15 p.m. He was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The two other boys ran away.

Police arrested one boy on Wednesday and charged him with attempted murder. He can’t be named because of the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

He was due in court on Thursday.

The other boy is still at large.
