Mayor Rob Ford calls police on comedy crew
Mayor Rob Ford isn’t laughing after a surprise visit from This Hour Has 22 Minutes, a long-running satirical show on the CBC.
Comedian Mary Walsh and a cameraman caught up with Ford outside his Etobicoke home on Monday morning, prompting Ford to call 911.
“I came out of my house and it was still pretty dark still…Two people who didn’t identify themselves came running up. I tried to get in my car and they stopped me from getting in my car,” Ford told CityNews.

“There was a lady dressed up, she was screaming my name, saying, ‘We got you Rob Ford, we got you.'”
Walsh left This Hour Has 22 Minutes about seven years ago but occasionally returns as a character named Marg, Warrior Princess. She is known for surprising political figures while wearing a Xena-type outfit.
Ford said he had his six-year-old daughter with him and she was so frightened, she ran back into the house. Ford followed and called 911.
“I didn’t know who they were and I’ve had death threats. They had a camera a mic and it wasn’t any of you guys,” Ford joked with reporters at City Hall Monday.
“When you come to my private house, early in them morning, and ambush me, I think that crosses the line. My wife and my kids are the closest things to my…I just hope someone doesn’t do that again because I don’t want anything serious to happen.”

By the time police arrived, both Ford and the crew were gone.
“The interview began at the end of his driveway and concluded shortly thereafter,” CBC spokesman Chris Bell said in a statement.
“The crew had no interaction with Toronto police.”
