Cat thrown from car recovering in St. Catharines hospital
A cat which was thrown from a moving car has had surgery and is recovering in a St. Catharines animal hospital.
Around 9 a.m. on Tuesday, a driver saw the cat being thrown out the window of another car in the southbound lanes of Highway 406, between Beaverdams Road and Highway 20, in Thorold.
The witness stopped to help the animal, which had landed on the median, and it was taken to a vet clinic in St. Catharines.

The Lincoln County Humane Society (LCHS) said the cat, which they are calling Ellie, had surgery to repair her jaw, paw and toe and have two broken teeth removed. She didn’t have any internal injuries.
“She is up, walking around, eating and drinking, purring and cuddling,” said Dr. Tanya Lowrey of Huntington Animal Hospital. “She is expected to make a full recovery.”
She also had a button attached to her jaw to help the skin re-adhere to the bone. Kevin Strooband of the LCHS said it doesn’t affect her mood,
“She is a very loving cat who craves attention,” he said.
The LCHS continues to receive donations towards Ellie’s care and expects her to be out of hospital on Dec. 5.

Anyone who wants to adopt Ellie can submit an application between Dec. 5 and 7 to be entered into a random draw. A background check will be performed.
The LCHS is still looking for the suspect vehicle, a grey, four-door Nissan sedan (around 2010 model). Anyone with information is asked to call the Society at 905-682-0767.
