Heads-up Toronto drivers: Lane restrictions on stretch of DVP, Lake Shore East

If your commute involves Don Valley Parkway or Lake Shore Boulevard East, you may want to pack your patience and give yourself extra time, as a section of both roadways will have lane restrictions due to construction.

The City of Toronto says Enbridge Gas crews are working to relocate a gas main on the westbound Lake Shore Boulevard bridge that crosses the Don River as part of Waterfront Toronto’s Lake Shore Boulevard East: Don River Bridge and Public Realm Project.

Officials say a number of closures will be in place as the project is completed in stages.

However, work on the gas main may be completed earlier than expected.

“Enbridge has recently advised the City that they are ahead of schedule and these dates may be adjusted. More information will be provided as soon as new dates are confirmed,” a spokesperson for the City says.

The redevelopment project at the Port Lands, located south of where the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway meet, began a few years ago, and it was pegged at being around $1.25 billion.

CityNews recently visited the Port Lands to learn more about developments on the 400-acre project that will see the Don River extended 1.3 kilometres to the harbour sometime before the end of 2024.
