The Toronto Police Service (TPS) says one of its officers has been rushed to hospital with serious injuries after responding to a person in crisis.

The circumstances leading up to the incident are still unclear. However, police have confirmed that a woman who was arrested at the scene was the same person in crisis that officers initially responded to.
TPS President Jon Reid said the officer is 45 years old and a 19-year member of the force. He added a tourniquet applied to the officer saved his arm.
