Pride Weekend Begins With Remembrance Walk, Dyke March

The weekend festivities began on Saturday with a Remembrance Run/Walk and the Dyke March.
And what a Saturday it was: with highs near 27C, and the sun shining all day long, it was a beautiful day to be out celebrating Toronto’s diversity.
That is, unless you were planning to drive downtown.
The Pride and Remembrance Run is an annual 5km jaunt around the city to raise funds for various charities. This year, proceeds went to Casey House and Black CAP.
Next up was the Dyke March. Less boisterous than its Sunday cousin, the Pride Parade, the March is a political demonstration.
Leading the Dyke March was this year’s Honoured Dyke, Toronto-based musician and activist Faith Nolan, and this year’s Honoured Group, the all-women’s Toronto Roller Derby League.
