2 men arrested in north end street robberies investigation

Toronto police have arrested two men in connection with an investigation into a string of street robberies in the city’s north end.
Police issued a safety alert in the Finch Avenue West and Sentinel Road area after four separate incidents were reported between Oct. 12 and 20. Each incident involved some form of violence and personal items including cellphones and cash were forcefully taken.

On Friday evening, Philip Okeugo, 20, was arrested and charged with robbery with violence. On the same evening, Betu Kalala, 21, was also arrested and is facing multiple charges including two counts of robbery with violence, robbery with a weapon and uttering threats.
Both men are due in court on Saturday.
Police advise that residents in the area remain vigilant and anyone with information is being asked to contact them.
