Police warn of counterfeit $100 bills used in Brampton, Mississauga

By The Canadian Press

Police say they’re seeing a significant increase in the number of counterfeit Canadian $100 bills in circulation in Peel Region.

Investigators say more than 30 incidents of businesses and food delivery people receiving fake bills in Brampton and Mississauga have been reported in the past month.

They say the bills they’ve seized are on polymer paper, and the ink begins to lift if they’re handled for a short period.

The bills have the serial number FKW4346846, and police are urging businesses to keep a sharp eye out for them.
