Carter Leads Nets To Huge Win Over Raptors

Vince Carter haunted his old team on Friday night, scoring a staggering 37 points to lead the New Jersey Nets to a 102-89 win over the Toronto Raptors.
The win gives the Nets a 2-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference first round series.
“Vince came out early and took it to us. That was the thing we were afraid of,” said Toronto coach Sam Mitchell. “He started making some tough shots. I thought Jason Kidd, with the supposed so-called injury, was unbelievable. He dominated the basketball game. As good as Vince was, Jason Kidd was part of everything. He rebounded, assists. He made big shots. Every time we made a little run, he made a play.”
Jason Kidd missed practice due to a bruised left knee, but he looked no worse for the wear once the game was underway. He recorded a playoff career-high 19 assists and his 10th post-season triple-double.
Kidd also added 16 points, and had 14 assists by halftime to set the tone for the night.
“I don’t know if he’s healthy or not, but he did do something special,” teammate Vince Carter said of Kidd. “He definitely played phenomenal on both ends. I’m just glad that he was able to come in and play tonight.”
The Nets never trailed and led by as many as 21 points, totally dominating the Raptors in all facets of play.
T.J. Ford led Toronto with 27 points while Chris Bosh was limited to just 11 points.
