Rapper 50 Cent Sues Over Internet Company Game

Rapper 50 Cent has a bone to pick with a New York Internet advertising company after it allegedly used a likeness of him in an online game without permission.

Called “Shoot the Rapper”, the game apparently shows a rapper resembling 50 Cent walking across a Web page screen. The viewer’s objective is to shoot him by using mouse clicks. If successful, a spray of red appears on the screen and the person playing is then directed to the company website.

Peter Raymond, the rapper’s lawyer, said that though the character was never referred to as 50 Cent “it looks like him, and there’s no doubt the character is intended to be him.”

The suit was filed this week against the company Traffix Inc., based in Pear River, New York. There was no comment from Traffix lawyer Ezio Scaldaferri. 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis James Jackson, survived being shot before becoming a recording star. Raymond said his client was “personally offended” by the game. The lawsuit seeks more than $1 million in damages.
