Disney Nature: Earth (Blu-ray) CityNews.ca Pick of the Week. If you liked the BBC series Planet Earth you will enjoy this re-cut feature-length version of it. James Earl Jones narrates and the amazing shots of wildlife and nature are sure to blow you away. The Blu-ray version is a must own as the picture quality really showcases the cinematography. Special features include filmmaker annotations (Blu-ray only) and Earth Diaries: The Making o Earth The Movie. A regular DVD of the film is also included. Film **** out of 5 stars. State of Play (Blu-ray) – It’s no All the President’s Men but it’s still a great watch. A team of newspaper reporters investigates the murder of a congressman’s mistress in this intense political thriller based on the 2003 six-part UK television series. A stellar cast (Rachel McAdams, Ben Affleck, Russell Crowe, Robin Wright Penn and Helen Miren) help keep State of Play moving and intriguing even when the script becomes a tad cliched. Special features include deleted scenes and a making-of featurette. Film *** out of 5 stars. Blu-ray/DVD *** out of 5 stars.

Sin Nombre – When Sayra decides to emigrate to the  U.S. in order to live with her father she must travel from Honduras through Mexico to the U.S. border. Along the way she meets Casper; a young man who is a member of the Mara Salvatrucha gang. Produced by Gael García Bernal and Diego Luna (both from Y tu mamá tambié) Sin Nombre (which translates to “without a name”) is a dark film that is still very beautiful to watch. Spanish with English subtitles. Special features include deleted scenes and commentary with writer-director Cary Fukunaga. Film *** out of 5 stars. DVD ** out of 5 stars.
