Toronto Runs For The Cure

The Nuit Blanche crowd had barely cleared out of Nathan Phillips Square Sunday morning when thousands of bright-eyed participants turned up to raise funds and show their support for a cause close to their hearts – literally.

They were there for the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation’s 18th annual Run for the Cure, an event that takes place on the same day in cities across the country.

In Toronto, spirits were high as everyone from young kids to seniors walked and ran the 1km and 5km routes along University Ave. and around Queen’s Park.

Last year, 170,000 Canadians in 55 communities took part, raising $28.5 million for breast cancer research, education, and awareness programs.
