Suspect Wanted For Bizarre Hit & Run

Authorities are investigating an apparent hit, run and rob after a driver struck a woman and then took her purse in the Bathurst and Lawrence area.

The driver hopped out of the vehicle and robbed the woman she had just hit, police said. The stolen van crashed into a hydro pole and a house shortly after striking the pedestrian around 9pm Tuesday on Price Charles Drive.

“All I know is that a woman was hit by the car and the person that hit her tried to steal her purse and was trying to physically abuse her, punching her in the face, and ran away,” witness Samantha Johnson explained.

The 25-year-old victim wasn’t seriously hurt in the incident and did not need medical attention.

“We’re trying to determine exactly what the motivation was for hitting the woman, and secondly for the robbery,” PC Tony Vella outlined.

“The situation, we know, is unusual.”

The suspect is still at large. She’s described as:

  • white
  • blonde
  • 5’4″
  • 106 lbs
  • 20-26-years-old
  • hair in a ponytail
  • wearing dark pants
